Amid the alleys of the Tulipanes neighborhood in Guayaquil, Ecuador, one home has been transformed into a space for learning, protection, and hope. Lourdes Crespo, a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and leader of the local Adventurers Club, opened her house as a community center to raise awareness about digital violence, joining the international Enough Silence 2025 campaign promoted by the denomination.

More than 60 people—children, adolescents, and adults—participated in the event. Educational workshops, games, and role-playing activities were organized, and official campaign materials were distributed, including age-appropriate magazines, posters titled “Danger in Disguise,” and Bibles and other spiritual resources.

Talks were also given by experts addressing “The Danger of Digital Violence,” presenting clear, practical guidance rooted in biblical principles. The activity was supported by the Children’s Ministries department of the Adventist Church, which helps guide the spiritual development of children and adolescents, and was accompanied by a local Adventist pastor Santy Morejón, who ministers to several local congregations.

Creating Safe Spaces

Digital violence is an increasing threat to children and adolescents who spend more time online and on social media. Community spaces for prevention, dialogue, and family education are seen as vital to addressing this growing problem.

Crespo expressed gratitude for the impact of the program: “I feel very blessed and grateful to God for being able to share in my neighborhood, where the Holy Spirit prepares people’s hearts to hear the message. We already have families who have decided to study the Bible, and that makes us very happy.”

She added that the children now look forward to each activity: “I don’t do this for recognition, but so that many people will be encouraged to do the same in their neighborhoods.”

Part of a Global Campaign

This local initiative is part of the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s wider missionary movement in Ecuador, which this month joined the global Enough Silence campaign. In 2025, the campaign is dedicated to preventing digital violence, with churches and members worldwide conducting activities to raise awareness and offer hope in their communities.
