Workers at Granix, a Seventh-day Adventist Church-owned health food manufacturer in Buenos Aires, Argentina, last month ran 51 miles (approximately 83 kilometers) to help raise money for victims of the coronavirus pandemic.

The November event was a “virtual” marathon organized by Messengers of Peace, a local charity. Runners used a mobile app to track their mileage and plot a route. Each entrant also learned about a charitable participant for whom they raced.

Some 285 runners—including 13 from Granix—ran a total of 1,723 kilometers (approximately 1,070 miles), exceeding the 1,000 km goal set for the project. Messengers of Peace said the funds raised will help reduce the economic impact of the pandemic for the people they help.

In expressing thanks to Granix for its participation, the group said “teamwork is essential to enhance the impact of charitable programs for the community, and above all to create a better place for everyone.”
