More than 530 people were baptized into the Seventh-day Adventist Church

More than 530 people were baptized into the Seventh-day Adventist Church after a series of evangelistic meetings held May 4 to 20 in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia.  Despite political and economic instability in many parts of the country (see article above), between 2,000 and 3,000 people came each night to Bapindo Plaza in the city center to hear music, preaching and personal testimony.

According to Pastor Sadrak Situmeang, president of the Adventist Church in Jakarta, the meetings resulted in the most baptisms ever for an Adventist evangelistic series in that city.

Speakers at the meetings included leaders from the Adventist Church world headquarters–Kathleen Kuntaraf, associate director of the Health department, and Jonathan Kuntaraf, associate director of the Sabbath School/Personal Ministries department.  Adventist musician Jennifer La Mountain, singer for the television program “It Is Written” performed, along with Ullanda Dennis.
