On February 6, 2023, Türkiye and Syria were hit by a 7.8 earthquake. Because of that, about 18 million people have been impacted by the disaster, with over 55,000 dead and nearly 130,000 injured. Millions have been displaced from their homes, with over 10 million in need of urgent aid.

A team from the Moldova Union of Churches Conference, part of the Romanian Union Conference, in partnership with ADRA Romania, went to Hatay, Türkiye. Adventist brethren throughout the conference donated €12,500 (approx. US$13,400) to provide help for the survivors.

In February, there were no Adventist members or workers there. During the mission trip (presented in the video clip), Adventists from the Moldova Conference raised another €10,000 (approx. US$10,700) to help local pastor Luis’ work for the refugees. Pastor Luis already bought a van to deliver supplies to the homeless.

“It is our hope that, with help from other volunteers and financial aid, Pastor Luis and Pastor Hyosu [president of the mission in Türkiye] can soon buy a piece of land for a future community center in Antakya, Hatay,” a church leader of the Moldova Conference commented. “May God spread His love and truth to many people barely [surviving] there.”
