During the pandemic, thousands of families in Paraguay were affected by a lack of knowledge about healthcare and proper personal hygiene. As part of the national project on mental health and nutrition “Mitãme guarã” (Guardian Myths), Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) of Paraguay delivered printed materials to the country's Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare.
In order to benefit the Family Health Units of Paraguay, ADRA delivered supplies to the facilities of the Ministry of Health. There, architect Joao Abadía, ADRA country director, with the assistance of Dr. Maida Barrios, director of APS XI Región Sanitaria; Gustavo Bernal, Administrative Director XI Sanitary Region; and Nilsa Giménez, head of supplies; formally delivered 1,962 units of educational pamphlets and brochures.
Thanks to this donation, more than 500 Family Health Units will benefit from material which presents advice on mental health and healthy habits.
“We are very happy and grateful to ADRA for the support it continues to provide to the Family Health Units during the context of the pandemic,” says Dr. Maida Barrios, director of Primary Health Care of the XI health region. “Since its inception, it has provided support with elements that were of great help… Now we receive these educational and informative materials for the Family Health Units. This aid is adjusted to what we need: Washable, cleanable and that focuses on specific issues that are of great importance to the population.”
In this way, ADRA contributes to the Family Health Units of the Country and to the comprehensive health of children and adolescents.
