The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) in Brazil has collected 5,000 items of clothing and shoes since Saturday, July 17th, in the city of Maringá, Paraná. The action was carried out in partnership with Rede Massa, an organization that manages radio and TV stations and who helped publicize the campaign and collected donations. Aid agency volunteers distributed the clothes on Wednesday, July 21st. Families from the community visited the Seventh-day Adventist church in Vila Sete, where they could choose the items they wanted to take home.
According to Jorge Luiz Correa Pimenta, more than 140 people went to the church to receive donations. On a rotating basis, every six minutes, six people could walk around and pick the clothes and shoes available from boxes outside the church. Each of them has been registered and will receive an invitation to a Bible study.
About 20 people, including volunteers from Ação Solidária Adventista (ASA) and Missão Calebe, worked in collecting, sorting, organizing and donating the pieces. “The clothes that are left will go to the church in the Três Lagoas neighborhood so that the Calebs can continue to [minister] to that community.”
