ADRA’s Contribution to Food Relief Initiative Featured on TV

With the need for food relief increasing across the country, ADRA Victoria has recently been invited to join Coles and SecondBite’s annual Winter Appeal campaign.

Launched on June 22, this year’s campaign is directing its funds to SecondBite so they can continue providing food in the form of cooked meals, food hampers, and community pantries for those in need. Bringing a boost to the initiative, ADRA Victoria is assisting the efforts by distributing food to its 30 centres across the state.

The initiative has been featured on TV by Channel 9’s A Current Affair and Channel 7’s Morning Sunrise programs.

In an interview with Channel 9, 12-year-old Ava, from Glen Huntly Adventist Church—one of ADRA’s youngest volunteers—spoke about her passion for service. “I love [volunteering] so much as it gives people an eternal smile on their face, not just from a funny joke, but from the heart,” she said.

Celebrity MasterChef Curtis Stone, ADRA clients, and volunteers were part of the filming, which took place at Nunawading Adventist Church, where breakfast was prepared and served by the volunteers with the help of Stone.

“This was an incredible opportunity to raise awareness about the work that ADRA does to help those in the community who are struggling,” said Rebecca Auriant, ADRA Victoria director. “I couldn’t stop smiling all day because I realised the power of connection—the power of God working through His people and the small acts of kindness.”
