A Message from the North American Division’s President During Asian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month

United States | North America Division

Greetings to my Asian American and Pacific Islander brothers and sisters!

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, a time to recognize the contributions and the influence of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the North American Division.

I would like to let my Asian American brothers and sisters know how very sorry I am for the unfair abuse and targeting of Asians from some of our bigoted citizens of our territory. We stand with you—and in solidarity with you. We lend our voices against the hatred and unfair abuse that you have suffered. You are part of God's family, part of our church, and part of our family. When something mean and hateful is done to one of us, it is done to all of us. When it is done to you, it is done to us. When you hurt, we hurt, and we feel your pain. You are part of the fabric of our division, of our community, and of our church. Your hard work, sacrifice, blood, sweat, and tears are part of what has made this division what it is and has was [sic] made our church what it is today.

During this month of May, we celebrate our Asian American and Pacific Islander brothers and sisters and your rich culture, heritage, music, food, and all that makes you, you, which helps make us, us. May God richly bless you!

—G. Alexander Bryant, president of the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists
