A spiritual revival week at Kambubu Adventist Secondary School, New Britain New Ireland Mission, Papua New Guinea, culminated in the baptism of 19 people.
The week-long series about salvation was attended by more than 300 people each night, including students, staff and families, and members of Kambubu English church and Kambubu Pidgin church. Two screens were set up inside and outside the chapel to cater for the attendees.
An appeal was made on the Friday evening, which saw staff, students and church members recommit their lives to Jesus. Nineteen people were baptized: 16 young people and three adults, including Kambubu teacher Jerol Jerry. A further 20 people made a commitment to be baptized at the next baptismal service in September.
Among the baptismal candidates was Frank Jelly, a grade 10 student. Following his baptism Frank was ordained as a deacon during the worship service.
“Dealing with young people in the school is very challenging, therefore we need to continually pray and commit our mission schools to be guided by the Holy Spirit and [for] God’s will to be done,” said Kambubu school chaplain Pastor Peter Bebe.
