Following a request from the city council and mayor of Mukachevo, Ukraine, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) began repairs July 25 on a schoolhouse that was badly damaged during hurricane in May.
Following a request from the city council and mayor of Mukachevo, Ukraine, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) began repairs July 25 on a schoolhouse that was badly damaged during hurricane in May.
“This kindergarten is one of the most important projects for the community,” said Andriy Chuprikov, director for ADRA Ukraine. The school houses 127 kindergarteners.
ADRA will replace the roof that was torn off during the storm, repair windows and walls and lay bricks. ADRA International, ADRA Ukraine, and ADRA Euro-Asia will fund the two-month project, valued at U.S. $10,216.
The hurricane hit the Transcarpathian region of the Ukraine on May 18, damaging more than 700 homes. In Mukachevo, near the Hungarian border, it tore roofs off of two kindergartens and the local public hospital. Official records state the hurricane reached winds between 55 to 78 miles per hour.
