At Maranatha Adventist School in Pucallpa, Peru, Dieny Machoa Rodríguez found more than a place to pursue her passion for volleyball. Through Bible classes, worship services, spiritual weeks, and the example of teachers and fellow students, she encountered a story that would transform her own life—the story of Jesus.

As she learned more about Him, Dieny’s interest grew into a personal commitment. Over time, she decided to dedicate her life to Christ.

Encounter with Jesus

Since 2024, constant contact with faith sparked questions in Rodríguez. She began to desire a deeper relationship with Jesus. With pastoral support and the encouragement of her family, she began to study the Bible and gain a more personal understanding of the message she had learned in school. This strengthened her faith and led her to make a decision that would mark a new beginning in her life.

During the "Reunion 2026" program held in June, Rodríguez gave her life to Christ through baptism. She is currently an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and, as she finishes her studies, she remembers that decision as the best choice of her life.

Road to victory

Volleyball continues to hold an important place in Rodríguez’s life. Together with her team, she is working toward qualifying for the national stage of the 2026 School Sports and Para-Sports Games (JEDPA), with hopes of winning a medal. But beyond the pursuit of a sporting victory, Rodríguez is focused on a greater goal: walking each day with Jesus and keeping her eyes fixed on the promise of eternal life.

Rodríguez’s story shows how an educational institution can become a place where students develop their talents and encounter Jesus, said a school representative. Between training, classes, and school activities, Rodríguez discovered a goal that transcends any championship. Her purpose now is to walk with Christ each day and keep her eyes fixed on eternal life.
