The Adventist Development and Relief Agency International (ADRA) is responding to “the worst flooding to hit the Mekong Delta in decades,” says Frank Teeuwen, ADRA’s international disaster response coordinator. Nearly 800,000 square kilometers (497,000 square miles) of land in Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam is submerged, impacting millions of people and bringing extensive destruction to rice crops in Cambodia and Thailand.
The flooding has brought economic hardships and concern for future food supplies, says Heriberto Muller, ADRA director in Cambodia.
ADRA has provided food and clothing for 1,000 families in Cambodia and 4,300 in Thailand, and continues to respond to needs across the region.
