A Seventh-day Adventist Church in Romania was dedicated on November 17 more than 40 years after construction of the building began.  Jan Paulsen, president of the Adventist Church worldwide, and Ulrich Frikart, president of the church in the Euro-Africa region, attended the dedication of the church located in the city of Ploiesti, near the Romanian capital, Bucharest.

Construction of the church began in 1959, but as the building neared completion it was confiscated by government authorities to be used as a movie theater.  Adventist Church members worshiped for more than 30 years in a rented Lutheran church.  After the fall of the communist regime in Romania in 1989, the church filed a lawsuit to recover the building.  Following a long legal battle, the Adventist Church regained ownership and restored the building.  It is the fourth Adventist church in the city; a fifth building is currently being built.
