A Seventh-day Adventist University in Argentina graduated its first medical students in ceremonies held June 1 to 2. 

Nineteen of the 211 students receiving diplomas from River Plate University were medical students. The seven-year program includes one year of community service devoted to health education, preventive medicine, and assistance in health clinics.

Participating in the graduation ceremony were the national Minister of Health and the Minister of Education of Argentina, along with the state governor and other personalities. The keynote address for graduation was presented by Dr. Bryan Bull, dean of the School of Medicine at Loma Linda University, an Adventist institution in California, United States. A four-story library and a second wing of the university’s School of Health Sciences were officially opened the same weekend.
