Adventist News Network Launches Headline Syndication

Adventist News Network Launches Headline Syndication

Adventist News Network has launched a headline syndication feature that will make it easier for other Web sites to display regularly updated Adventist news headlines.

Adventist News Network has launched a headline syndication feature that will make it easier for other Web sites to display regularly updated Adventist news headlines.

“Many Web sites struggle to provide fresh content,” says John Beckett, Webmaster for the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s official Web site and assistant director in the communication department of the world church. “ANN’s headline syndication means that a site will always have up-to-date Adventist news. And once the initial line of code has been integrated on a Web site, no further maintenance is required.”

He says setting up the syndication is a simple process and, once in place, news headlines are automatically updated every time a story is added to the Adventist News Network main page. Each headline links directly to the full news story.

Beckett expects the new service will be of greatest benefit to local churches and other Adventist-affiliated organizations that want to display current church news on their Web sites with minimal effort.

Adventist News Network currently produces news in both English and Spanish and headline syndication is available in both languages.

Since it was established in 1994, Adventist News Network has used the Internet as its primary method of distribution, says Beckett.

“This step toward headline syndication is built on that tradition of using the Internet for fast, inexpensive, and broad distribution of international church news,” he says.

Adventist News Network is the international news service of the Adventist Church and is located at the Church’s world headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland. Each week, it produces news reports from around the world, covering areas such as Adventists in action, church leadership decisions, humanitarian aid, social issues, religious liberty, and major church-related events.
