Loma Linda University Medical Center has again been awarded high-level accreditation following an onsite evaluation by the United States’ leading hospital accrediting agency.

For three weeks in July, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) surveyed more than nine different areas at LLUMC, including the Medical Center, Children’s Hospital, Outpatient Surgery Center, and Behavioral Medicine Center.

“The surveyors saw a very dedicated staff,” says Renee Hills, LLUMC’s executive director for quality resource management and medical staff administration. “We’re glad we did so well and we’re proud of our staff, who so exemplify our institution.”

Areas surveyed received an overall rating from JCAHO of 93 with no major recommendations. “Surveyors informed the staff that usual JCAHO scores this year have been between 80 and 85,” says Hills. She adds that surveyors also said they were impressed by staff members’ obvious commitment to the “bigger picture” mission of LLUMC.

Established in 1905, LLUMC is a Seventh-day Adventist institution located in southern California. According to its mission statement, LLUMC is dedicated to continuing “the healing ministry of Jesus Christ, to make man whole, in a setting of advancing medical science.”
