The Maranatha Adventist Youth Ministries (AYM) Club at Meltan Seventh-day Adventist Church in Kavieng, Papua New Guinea, held its induction ceremony from February 21 to 22, 2025, marking the church’s official launch of AYM activities for 2025.

The event, themed “Refocus and Make Change in My Community,” brought together more than 100 Adventurers, Pathfinders, Youth, and Ambassadors, along with 30 staff members, including club directors, provincial coordinators, and church members.

Meltan Church pastor Jeffery Sonny encouraged young people to remain loyal to God and avoid distractions that could take their focus away from their faith.

“AYM members should be positive influences in their communities, standing firm in their faith and sharing Jesus in their daily conversations,” he said.

Retired Benis Kotoveke, who served as a youth director in various local missions for 28 years, attended the event alongside his wife. He reflected on the impact of youth ministry, stating that it is “the heartbeat and backbone of the church,” and urged young leaders to serve with passion.

Assistant Youth Leader Gilchrist Walter, a former New Ireland provincial youth coordinator, shared his passion for AYM and the importance of commitment in youth leadership.

“As leaders, we must be fully committed to serving God, attending church programs faithfully, and working together to bring souls to Jesus,” he said. “When we speak the same language in ministry and stay united, we can fulfill the gospel commission.”

The event concluded with a commitment ceremony, where youth members were encouraged to actively participate in God’s service and make a difference in their communities.
