A graduation ceremony at the Good Hope Adventist Clinic in Miraflores, Peru, highlighted the conclusion of “La Máquina Humana” (The Human Machine), a health course promoted by Radio Nuevo Tiempo Peru.

During the program, participant Mery Carhuamán shared her personal story about her health recovery, which she attributed to adopting lifestyle changes and strengthening her trust in God.

“Today I stand before you and can walk on my own, but just a few weeks ago I was bedridden,” she said.

Carhuamán, a listener of Radio Nuevo Tiempo Peru, told attendees that her condition was due to polyneuropathy, a disorder affecting the peripheral nerves of the body. She said she had expected to rely on a wheelchair, but after learning about healthy living principles through the radio and applying them within her limitations, such as adequate rest, improved nutrition, and spiritual confidence.

“I started hearing about practicing a healthy lifestyle and, within my limitations, I began to experiment,” she recalls.

After some time, she began to regain mobility, she said.

“Today I’m standing in front of you, and I can walk by myself,” she said during the ceremony.

According to organizers, the course was offered as a study of Revista Esperanza material and centered on the “eight natural remedies” presented within a biblical context. Beginning in October, doctors from Clínica Adventista Good Hope presented weekly sessions each week via Zoom, combining scientific and practical perspectives. Organizers reported that 995 people enrolled nationwide and participated in the eight-week series.

“The advice they gave us on the radio is very valuable to me. I’ve left the wheelchair and the cane behind. This webinar changed my lifestyle, and that’s what keeps me going today. It’s something I still can’t believe,” Carhuamán said.

The graduation event took place on December 14, with organizers reporting that 300 participants completed the course. About 100 people from the Lima metropolitan area attended the in-person ceremony at the clinic’s auditorium.

Organizers said several participants, including Carhuamán, reported improvements in their health as a result of applying the program’s principles.

“Thank you, Nuevo Tiempo, thank you to the doctors at the clinic for teaching me to take care of my body and to trust in God. This is real!” Carhuamán concluded.
