Dr. Wilbert “Willie” Oliver has been elected to serve as director of General Conference Family Ministries for the 2025–2030 term during the 62nd General Conference Session of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Oliver has served in this role since June 2010 and brings more than four decades of pastoral, academic, and administrative experience to the position. An ordained minister, pastoral counselor, family sociologist, and certified family life educator (CFLE), he holds a PhD in sociology with concentrations in Gender and Family and Social Stratification, as well as master’s degrees in religion and sociology and a BA in theology.

He has held leadership roles in Family Ministries at the local, union, and division levels in North America and previously served as a pastor in New York City. He is currently an adjunct professor of Family Ministries at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary at Andrews University and teaches Marriage and Family at the Adventist University of Africa.

Together with his wife, Elaine, Oliver has led marriage and family conferences globally and co-authored several books, including Real Family Talk, Hope for Today’s Families, and Connected. The Olivers also produce and host Real Family Talk on Hope Channel.

Married for 40 years, the Olivers have two adult children and two grandchildren. They enjoy beach vacations, international cuisine, and high-quality time with loved ones.

Family Ministries strengthens Adventist homes by providing biblical resources and training on marriage, parenting, and family relationships. It supports local churches in nurturing healthy, Christ-centered families and equipping members to model love, resilience, and faith while addressing challenges such as divorce, abuse, and intergenerational discipleship.
