The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Romania and ADRA Romania stand in solidarity with the flood victims in Romania, getting involved and urging a compassionate response to the existing situation. The Seventh-day Adventist Church in Romania decided to hold a national collection on Saturday, September 21, 2024. The purpose of this collection was to gather funds for the financial and material assistance of flood victims through the ADRA project "Hope above the waters."

In the context of the recent floods that destroyed thousands of houses in Moldova, ADRA Romania’s strategy is to use the funds collected for humanitarian intervention for the victims of natural disasters.

Cyclone Boris caused severe flooding in Galați, Vaslui, and Bacău counties, causing major damage, especially in the Galaţi area, where several towns were severely affected. Thousands of houses were destroyed, and people had to react immediately to save their lives, leaving behind a home full of memories and safety. Fear, insecurity, and the pain of material and human losses soon became their daily reality.

"In these times of suffering and trial, we pray to God for comfort and strength, both for those directly affected by the floods and for all those struggling to provide relief,” said Aurel Neațu, president of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Romania and president of ADRA Romania.

“The Adventist Development and Relief Agency - ADRA Romania - intervened quickly, even in the first hours, for the victims of the floods in Romania, through material, financial, and counseling support. Our thoughts and help go out to the victims of these tragedies, and our community is united in supporting as many of those in need as possible,” continued Neatu.

“The collection will help the victims, Adventists, and non-Adventists, as a sign of Christian compassion, with the restoration of living conditions in the destroyed areas. With faith and solidarity, we will succeed in rebuilding and offering hope to those affected. May God protect those in the calamity areas!" concluded Neațu.

"ADRA Romania wholeheartedly joined the call for solidarity with the disaster victims in Galati and offered, in the first instance, emergency humanitarian intervention to complement the efforts of the authorities,” said Robert Georgescu, executive director of ADRA Romania. “We are called to be arms outstretched to our hard-pressed fellows [humans]. In addition to material and financial donations, which are desperately needed these days, there is no volunteer who does not find a place in this humanitarian intervention," concluded Georgescu.
