The Seventh-day Adventist Church has begun its annual Ten Days of Prayer, uniting members worldwide in a dedicated time of prayer, fasting, and spiritual reflection. Running until January 18, 2025, the event invites believers to seek personal and corporate revival while building unity across the global church.

This year’s theme, “But When You Pray…”, explores Jesus’ teachings about prayer, particularly the Lord’s Prayer. The program’s daily readings, authored by Dr. Pavel Goia, editor of Ministry magazine, provide a mix of personal stories and biblical insights focused on deepening participants’ understanding of the power of prayer.

“Prayer is at the heart of revival,” said Ted N.C. Wilson, president of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. “As we participate in the Ten Days of Prayer, I invite every member to join in this sacred initiative, claiming God’s promises together and seeking His guidance for our lives, our families, and His church.”

A Global Call to Pray, Fast, and Serve

The Ten Days of Prayer event is built around a structured 10-day program available in over 20 languages on the official website. Each day features a specific theme and devotional thought, drawing participants into a deeper understanding of the Lord’s Prayer.

The program also includes suggested hymns and prayer points, offering a practical and enriching framework for individuals and groups seeking spiritual renewal.

For families, dedicated children’s resources provide tools to inspire and guide young participants in prayer. These resources include daily Bible readings, engaging prayer activities, and creative ideas to nurture a spirit of devotion in young hearts, helping parents actively involve their children in this spiritual journey.

The Ten Days of Prayer program provides a personal and family-centered approach and fosters a sense of global unity through collective intercession. The program invites global Adventists to pray for shared goals that reflect the Adventist Church's mission and priorities. These global prayer requests include petitions for the proclamation of the Three Angels’ Messages, greater youth engagement in faith, and divine wisdom for leaders and professionals worldwide.

For individuals seeking broader connections, the 24/7 United in Prayer Zoom calls offer an opportunity to join other Adventists from around the globe in continuous prayer. These virtual gatherings create a space for intercession across time zones and cultures.

Building a Lasting Impact Through Prayer and Service

Ten Days of Prayer participants are encouraged to move beyond the ten-day experience by developing meaningful, lasting spiritual habits. As part of the Back to the Altar initiative, the program promotes a Digital Detox, urging believers to limit distractions such as social media, streaming services, and other digital activities. Event organizers say this intentional pause, particularly on the Sabbath, seeks to create space for uninterrupted communion with God and a renewed focus on spiritual priorities.

Program organizers also emphasize the importance of turning prayer into action through the Outreach Challenge. The World Church invites participants to reflect Christ’s love in tangible ways, such as feeding the hungry, offering comfort to those in need, or assisting neighbors facing challenges.

As participants engage in this year’s program, organizers hope it will inspire spiritual growth and a renewed commitment to serving others.
