The Oikos Adventist Youth Organization in Christchurch, New Zealand, has donated nearly 100 computers, laptops, and projectors to Adventist schools in Tonga.

In collaboration with EcoCare Trust, a New Zealand non-profit supporting health, education, and environmental well-being in Pacific Communities, Oikos gathered equipment from various establishments and businesses in Christchurch. The volunteers spent weeks testing and preparing the devices for shipment. The equipment will be distributed to both high schools and primary schools in Tonga, providing students with much-needed digital tools to enhance their learning experience.

Youth volunteer Finau Halafihi expressed his gratitude and blessing for the opportunity to participate in this initiative.

“I pray that these computers and laptops will have a positive impact on the students in Tonga, especially in their education,” Halfihi said.

He also thanked the youth volunteers and everyone involved for making this project possible.

Dr. Peni Fukofuka, an elder of Oikos Seventh-day Adventist Church, praised God for providence and guidance throughout the initiative.

“What we have learned is that the Adventist schools in Tonga have established networks but lack the necessary equipment,” Dr. Fukofuka said.

“That’s where we come in. These computers are about two years old, so we’ve been thoroughly testing them to ensure that they are in good working condition before sending them to the schools in Tonga.”

The shipment left Christchurch on October 18 and is expected to reach Tonga in the coming weeks.

Oikos youth leader Mervin Brown highlighted the project's impact and emphasized the church’s commitment to serving.

“Today, we witness the power of unity and giving in action. We’ve gathered vital resources to support the Adventist schools in Tonga,” Brown said.

He concluded, “This effort reflects our commitment to empowering education and building a stronger future for our youth. As we continue to serve, let this inspire us to look for more ways to make a meaningful impact wherever we are. Proverbs 3:27 reminds us, ‘Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.’ Together, we can bring hope and lasting change.”
