Ramon J. Canals has been elected to serve as secretary of the General Conference Ministerial Association for the 2025–2030 term during the 62nd General Conference Session of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Canals currently leads the GC Ministerial Association, where he coordinates global initiatives, resources, and publications to support pastors and church leaders. Prior to this role, he served as director of the GC Sabbath School and Personal Ministries department and as a vice president of the North Pacific Union Conference. His ministry experience also includes roles as evangelist, evangelism coordinator, and director of Ministerial and Hispanic Ministries.
He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Central American Adventist University in Costa Rica and holds both Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Andrews University. Passionate about equipping others for soul-winning, Canals is known for his commitment to encouraging, energizing, and empowering members for mission.
He is married to Aurora Canals, an associate secretary of the GC Ministerial Association. They have two adult children, Jessica and Gabriel, and three grandchildren. In his spare time, Canals enjoys racquetball, reading, gardening, music, and memorizing entire books and chapters of the Bible.
The Ministerial Association provides spiritual, professional, and practical support to pastors, evangelists, and church leaders worldwide. It develops resources, training, and mentorship programs to enhance biblical preaching, leadership, and pastoral care, ensuring that ministers are equipped to effectively serve their congregations and communities.
