Radio Message Spurs Faith Decision in Peru

After hearing a song in a supermarket, a listener followed Radio Nuevo Tiempo content and was baptized at the Caravan of Hope finale.

“That bird is me!” Gloria thought as she approached the supermarket checkout. At that moment, a song was playing loudly on the local radio that said, “If it weren't for your grace and your love, I'd be like a wounded bird dying on the ground.”

The lyrics of that song made her stop and reflect, she shares. She saw herself reflected in that metaphor, understanding that without God's grace, her life would have no direction. She had gone to the supermarket to buy food for her son, but she carried with her a deeper need: loneliness.

She was going through a divorce, and the prospect of her son's future without a father filled her with grief. No remedy could soothe her sadness, but that melody lit a spark of hope.

Meeting With the Radio

In the midst of her anguish, she cried out, “God, if you exist, answer me! I’m drowning… I need you to breathe and live .” Shortly after, she found a message from Alejandro Bullón, an Adventist pastor, on YouTube. To her surprise, she discovered that there was a radio station that broadcast his messages: Radio Nuevo Tiempo, the same radio station she had heard at the supermarket.

From then on, the radio channel became her daily companion and brought peace to her heart. Weeks later, she visited a nearby Adventist church where she learned about a Nuevo Tiempo space. This space provides opportunities for connection and Bible study to those who need it. This is where her faith began to grow.

Decision for Christ

On September 27, 2025, Gloria arrived at Peru's National Stadium, where, instead of a soccer goal, the scene featured a baptistery and a pastor ready to officiate the ceremony.

That day, more than 40,000 people filled the National Stadium for the closing ceremony of the Caravan of Hope, whose speaker was Alejandro Bullón.

Wearing the Nuevo Tiempo robe, Gloria descended into the baptismal waters and publically gave her life to Christ.

“I feel renewed and happy. Now I have the mission to tell my family about God's love. Thank you, Nuevo Tiempo,” she said excitedly.

A Blessing that Multiplies

The radio station also transformed the lives of Patricia Enríquez's family. Her husband decided to accept Christ and was baptized.

"She was baptized a few months ago, and now it's my turn. I'm happy and grateful to God for radio; it's a blessing in our lives," he said excitedly.

At the closing ceremony of the Caravan of Hope, an evangelism campaign promoted by the Seventh-day Adventist Church for Southern Peru, radio, social media, and television made it possible for thousands of people to follow the event.
