On the first Sabbath of 2025, more than 500 individuals publicly committed to Christ through baptism in Southern Mindanao, Philippines, marking a significant spiritual milestone for the region.
The event, held at the newly established Adventist Training Center, was spearheaded by church districts in the region with significant involvement from church members, particularly those belonging to indigenous tribal groups such as the T’Boli, Manobos, B’Laans, and other minority communities.
The T’Boli people, an indigenous group known for their cultural heritage, music, intricate beadwork, and the handwoven T’nalak fabric, were joined by members of the Manobo and B’laan tribes, among others, for this event. Despite being deeply rooted in their traditions, these communities have shown an openness to the gospel, paving the way for transformative encounters with Christ.
The baptismal ceremony was part of a larger thanksgiving and fellowship program emphasizing the Adventist Church’s commitment to faith-based community engagement and service. Leaders from the Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD) attended the event, lending their support and guidance as the church enters 2025 with a mission-focused outlook.
“This moment is a testament to the power of God’s love,” said Roger Caderma, SSD president. “Seeing individuals from diverse backgrounds and traditions—including the T’Boli, Manobos, and B’laans—united in faith reminds us that the gospel transcends all boundaries. It reflects our church’s unwavering mission to bring the message of salvation to everyone.”
Nildo Mamac, president of the Southern Mindanao Mission, expressed gratitude for the collaboration and dedication that made the event possible. “What a beautiful way to begin the year! This baptism shows the Holy Spirit’s ongoing work in uniting people from various backgrounds into the body of Christ. We praise God for the hands and hearts that contributed to this incredible occasion,” Mamac shared.
The Sabbath worship service featured an inspiring message from Jacinto Adap, SSD treasurer, who reflected on God’s faithfulness in transforming lives. “Today’s baptism is a testament to the Lord’s promise to reach every nation, tribe, and tongue,” he said. “Let us continue to trust in His faithfulness as we move forward in fulfilling His mission.”
The Adventist Training Center, located in Lake Sebu, Mindanao, was established to equip members for ministry, mission work, while developing their spiritual growth.
