Nearly 3,005 Seventh-day Adventist members visited hospitals across central and southern Angola on the weekend of November 16 to donate blood in support of national health services.

The territory is overseen by the Southwest Angola Union, a regional administrative entity of the Adventist Church that is part of the Southern Africa-Indian Ocean Division (SID).

The initiative forms part of the Kambas de Sangue (Blood Friends) solidarity project, coordinated by the Youth Ministries Department of the Southwest Angola Union in partnership with other church departments. Now in its third year, the project mobilizes young people and adults three times a year to donate blood at hospitals and medical centers.

During the event, approximately 859 blood bags were collected. Leaders say this amount does not yet include data from the South Association Mission, the administrative headquarters for southern Angola.

According to Laureno Salote, Youth Ministries director for the Southwest Angola Union, this number could have been higher had it not been for the insufficient capacity of blood collection centers. With the 859 bags donated, compiled data indicate a total of 2,576 bags donated across nine provinces in Central and Southern Angola in 2025, he said.
