Orathai Chureson Elected as GC Children’s Ministries director during the 62nd GC Session in St. Louis, Missouri.

Orathai Chureson has been elected to serve as director of General Conference Children’s Ministries for the 2025–2030 term during the 62nd General Conference Session of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Born and raised in Thailand, Chureson brings a strong background in education and family ministry. Before her appointment to the GC, she served for eight years as the Children’s and Family Ministries director for the Southern Asia-Pacific Division, including one year as Ministerial Spouses Association Coordinator.

She holds a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction, with a cognate in TESOL, from the Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies in the Philippines and has 14 years of teaching experience.

Chureson is married to Saw Samuel, former president of the Southern Asia-Pacific Division and current GC associate secretary. They have two teenage children. In addition to her ministry work, Chureson enjoys teaching English as part of outreach programs, translating children’s stories for Sabbath School, and serving as a translator at church events and denominational workshops. She is the author of Homeward Bound and A Glimpse of God’s Grace, and editor of I Will Go in Faith. She has also published numerous articles on mental health and family life.

Children’s Ministries nurtures the spiritual growth of children by developing resources, programs, and training for local churches and families. Focused on age-appropriate Bible learning and character development, the department empowers leaders and parents to train children as disciples in faith, fostering a lifelong connection with Jesus and the church.
