In a gesture of solidarity and commitment to the community, students from Peruvian Union University’s (UPeU) Professional School of Nursing (Lima campus) held a successful health fair to benefit residents of San Juan de Lurigancho Chosica, the most populated district in the province of Lima.

The health fair took place at the La Era Central Adventist Church and focused on providing medical attention and health services to the community. In addition, they emphasized the importance of early detection of diseases and promoted regular access to medical care, even in the absence of symptoms. 

The highlight of the fair was the active participation of the students, from the first to the tenth cycles of the professional nursing program. They proudly demonstrated the knowledge acquired in the classroom and exhibited a high level of professional competence as part of their academic training.

More than 100 people from the community benefited from medical attention in various specialties, including pediatrics, dentistry, general medicine, cardiology, early stimulation, nutrition, cardiac prognosis, immunization (vaccines), and psychological attention. In addition, the invaluable support of the Professional Schools of Human Nutrition and Psychology, as well as nurses from the Directorate of Integrated Health Networks (DIRIS) Lima East, were essential to the success of the fair.

The La Era community expressed their deep gratitude for the show of solidarity and support. This health fair was held as part of the 40th anniversary of UPeU’s Professional School of Nursing. The university reaffirms its ongoing commitment to training leaders in nursing and serving the community, demonstrating that education and community service go hand in hand in the formation of professionals committed to the welfare of all.

Free Health Campaign in Tarapoto

In addition, a free health campaign entitled "Together we take care of your health" was held on the campus in Tarapoto, intended for the university population and the community. During this campaign, general medicine, dentistry, obstetrics, nutrition, physiotherapy, and psychology services were provided. Anemia screenings were also performed, and X-rays were available.The HISTOLAB laboratory also participated in the anemia screenings and provided X-ray services, benefiting a total of 400 people. Altogether, 500 people were served at both sites.

These efforts demonstrate the commitment of both branches of UPeU to promote the health and well-being of the community, strengthening the training of health professionals and reaffirming its commitment to society.
