Broadband connections, both mobile and fixed, continue to grow across Brazil and other South American countries, and smartphones have become the main gateway to the internet for millions of people.

According to data from DataReportal's Digital 2025 Brazil study, approximately 86.2% of the Brazilian population already uses the internet. DataReportal is the leading global source for monitoring internet and social media usage.

For many users, online platforms have replaced traditional media. In Sorocaba, in the state of São Paulo, 26-year-old Letícia Gonçales does not own a television. She accesses all her information and entertainment online, using only her mobile phone and computer.

In neighboring countries, internet usage is similarly high. Recent data show that access reaches about 90 percent of the population in Chile, 88.4 percent in Argentina, 77 percent in Ecuador, and 70 percent in Bolivia. Across Latin America, trends point clearly toward digital platforms becoming the primary channel for consuming news and entertainment.

“Channel of Hope” moves where viewers are

Against this backdrop, the Nuevo Tiempo Communication Network is working to ensure that its Bible-based content is available wherever audiences are watching, whether on television, radio, or online. The network’s goal is to promote quality of life and share the Christian message of hope through a variety of programming, ranging from news shows to game show–style Bible study formats.

In Brazil, TV Novo Tempo is available on all major pay-TV services, satellite dishes, and free-to-air channels. At the same time, the network streams its content 24 hours a day on YouTube, allowing viewers to watch via mobile phones and other connected devices.

In Spanish, TV Nuevo Tiempo broadcasts to audiences in seven South American countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay.

Mission in the mobile era

For Rafael Rossi, president of the Nuevo Tiempo Communication Network, prioritizing digital platforms is essential to fulfilling the network’s mission.

“Television remains a powerful tool, but today one of the strongest entry points is the mobile phone in the hands of the public. When we bring Novo Tempo or New Time content to the digital environment, in Portuguese and Spanish, we broaden the reach of the message, reach new audiences, and adapt to the way society consumes information. The internet allows for continuity, depth, interaction, and immediate availability,” says Rossi.

Rossi describes the relationship between traditional broadcasting and digital media as complementary rather than competitive.

“TV inspires, digital technology accompanies people’s daily rhythm. When we combine both, we create a virtuous circle of impact, loyalty, and expansion of hope.”

Nuevo Tiempo and Novo Tiempo are the Spanish and Portuguese Christian TV channels and radio stations for Central and South America.
