With the goal of strengthening environmental awareness and contributing to the care of the natural environment, Moyobamba Adventist School in Peru organized a reforestation campaign in the Juan Antonio Port area. The initiative, held in coordination with the Provincial Municipality of Moyobamba, brought together secondary school students to plant more than 300 cedar seedlings.

The campaign was part of a broader educational initiative aimed at restoring green spaces and promoting responsible environmental citizenship. School leaders described the effort as both a practical step toward environmental restoration and a meaningful learning experience for students.

“This activity reflects our commitment to transformative education,” said Margarita Vásquez de Alvarado, the teacher overseeing the campaign. “In our classrooms, we promote not only knowledge but also a commitment to the environment. Teaching how to care for the earth is about developing citizens with conscience and hope.”

In addition to the tree-planting activity, primary school students participated in educational workshops led by municipal technical staff. These sessions focused on recycling, waste separation, and biodiversity protection, helping to instill sustainable habits from an early age.

The campaign aligns with the broader educational vision of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, which integrates academic growth with spiritual, social, and ecological values. The Adventist Education Network, which operates in more than 150 countries, continues to prioritize initiatives that promote academic excellence, community service, and care for creation.

School leaders noted that activities like the one in Moyobamba reflect the network’s ongoing commitment to sustainable development and the holistic formation of students.
