Adventist students from across Morobe Mission, in Papua New Guinea, gathered for a two-week convention that combined evangelism, leadership development, and community service, with baptisms and a new village water project among the reported outcomes.
The sixth bi-annual Morobe Adventist Students Association (MoASA) convention was held December 7–20, 2025, at Sankang Primary School in Mampim Village, Markham District. Organizers said student representatives attended from 11 district-based Adventist student groups, including Fogo MoASA from Lufa District in Eastern Highlands Province.
Some groups faced difficult travel conditions to reach the convention site. According to organizers, members of the Komako District Adventist Students Association traveled in wet conditions, walking for up to 12 hours through mountainous terrain and across rivers to reach Menyamya Station before continuing to Mampim Village.
Hosted by students in the Markham 1 District, the convention began with outreach activities in nearby communities. Participants took part in evangelistic meetings, home visitation, and revival programs, alongside internal leadership meetings and handover ceremonies. Spiritual sessions encouraged students to collaborate across districts and remain engaged in mission work.
In addition to worship and evangelism, the program included practical training sessions such as career guidance, small business development, sewing and cooking, and oil-making demonstrations.
Organizers reported that a community water supply project for Mampim Village was initiated during the convention in partnership with ADRA. They said feasibility studies were conducted during the event and that planning for the project is now moving forward.
The convention concluded on Saturday with five baptisms connected to the student-led evangelistic program. Organizers also reported that participants conducted Sabbath School programs in surrounding communities and distributed Bibles and Christian literature.
