On September 15–16, 2023, approximately 2,000 secretaries and leaders of the Seventh-day Adventist Church from southern and northern Peru attended the National Secretariat Meeting, themed “Excellence to fulfill the mission.” They gathered in the facilities of the Villa Unión Church, on the campus of Peruvian Union University (UPeU).

This event had the objective of bringing together the secretaries of the congregations from the South Peru (UPS) and North Peru (UPN) unions to instruct them and emphasize the call to service and being pillars in God’s church.

The secretaries of the Adventist churches from the different regions of the interior of the country, despite physical or climatic conditions, were present with the purpose of increasing their knowledge through two days of seminars. In addition, during the devotional programs, they received messages that strengthened their faith and led some attendees to make the decision to be baptized.

Missionary Secretaries to Save

The Secretariat Department of the Seventh-day Adventist Church balances three important areas: administrative, technical, and, most importantly, missionary. It is a work ordered to honor God and with the aim of reaching more people. This is what is promoted in each of the churches in Peru.

After completing this event, and considering the large number of attendees, the leaders of the South American Division and the General Conference specified that this year’s National Secretariat Meeting would be the largest to date, marking a historic event for Peru and the world.

The National Secretariat Meeting was attended by the leading secretaries of the Seventh-day Adventist Church: Pastor Erton Köhler (General Conference), Pastor Edward Heidinger (South American Division), Pastor Farí Choque (South Peru Union), and Pastor Alberto Carranza (North Peru Union), among others. Also present were Pastor Daniel Montalvan and Pastor Charlles Britis, presidents of the UPN and UPS, respectively.
