Loma Linda University Medical Center and East Campus hospitals received their ninth and tenth consecutive “A” safety ratings, respectively, from the Leapfrog Group for spring 2023. This national distinction recognizes Loma Linda University Health’s achievements in protecting patients from preventable harm and error in the hospital.

“Leapfrog’s national recognition speaks to the dedication our employees have for making the care and safety of patients and their families their top priority,” said Trevor Wright, CEO of Loma Linda University Health hospitals. “Every one of our staff fills a specific role in creating this safe, healing environment, and their efforts are vital as Loma Linda University Health fulfills its mission of offering nationally ranked care here in our region.”

The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries, and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harms to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
