Under the theme "Arise, Shine" and the slogan "Glory to God, Love to Neighbors, Truth to the World," the Korean Union Conference (KUC) hosted a special event commemorating 120 years of Adventist mission in Korea.

The event brought together global church leaders, including all three General Conference officers: President Ted Wilson, Secretary Erton Köhler, and Treasurer Paul Douglas, highlighting the significance of the Korean Adventist Church. Kim YoHan, President of the Northern Asia-Pacific Division (NSD), and Kang SoonKi, President of the Korean Union Conference (KUC), were also in attendance. Representatives from NSD territories such as Japan, China, Taiwan, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, as well as delegates from the United States, Russia, and Nigeria, participated in the celebration.

Approximately 3,000 members from across Korea gathered to reflect on the church’s history and to give thanks to “Ebenezer God” for His guidance and blessings. The program also included contributions from Korean overseas missionaries serving in challenging environments to advance global evangelism. Many local church members joined via livestream, ensuring participation nationwide.

In his Sabbath worship sermon, based on John 12:32, Wilson expressed gratitude for God’s abundant grace over the past 120 years and urged the Korean church to remain committed to Christ-centered, Spirit-filled evangelism. “This anniversary is a meaningful opportunity to reflect on God’s leading and to energize the church for the final gospel proclamation. However, the greatest anniversary is yet to come—when we reunite with Christ,” he said, encouraging members to live lives of dedication and faithfulness.

During the afternoon program, a special plaque of appreciation was presented to the Japan Union Conference in recognition of their evangelistic efforts in response to the Korean Adventist community’s 1904 plea, “Come over and help us.” Gratitude was also extended to the North Colombian Union Conference for sending the first missionary, William R. Smith, and to the South Dakota Conference for their financial support of early mission work. Leaders from these regions shared heartfelt video messages, expressing their joy and solidarity with the Korean Adventist Church. Additionally, the KUC honored former union presidents, overseas missionaries, and individuals who made significant contributions to advancing mission work in various fields.

In his congratulatory remarks, Kim YoHan reiterated the division’s motto, “Mission First,” and emphasized the urgency of the gospel commission. “As Jesus commanded Peter, He now commands us to ‘Feed My sheep.’ There is no time to delay. This Sabbath is the moment to spread the gospel worldwide and fulfill the sacred mission entrusted to us with unwavering commitment,” he declared.

This event celebrated the rich legacy of Korean Adventism while renewing the church’s dedication to advancing God’s kingdom with love, truth, and steadfast faith.
