James M. Howard elected as GC Sabbath School and Personal Ministries director during the 62nd GC Session in St. Louis, Missouri.

James M. Howard has been elected to serve as director of Sabbath School and Personal Ministries for the 2025–2030 term during the 62nd General Conference Session of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Howard has served as director of the department since 2021. Prior to his work at the General Conference, he held pastoral roles in the Ohio and Michigan conferences and served as evangelism coordinator and Personal Ministries Director for the Michigan Conference. His passion for evangelism and discipleship is informed by years of experience preaching, teaching, training, and developing soul-winning resources for both leaders and laypeople.

Before entering full-time ministry, Howard spent 12 years in the accounting field, most recently as a business unit controller. His focus remains centered on helping members deepen their relationship with Jesus and respond to His call to share the three angels’ messages through both personal witness and public outreach.

Sabbath School and Personal Ministries fosters Bible study, discipleship, and evangelism by developing curriculum, training materials, and outreach programs. It equips local churches to engage members in small groups, personal witness, and community service, ensuring that Sabbath School remains a dynamic space for learning and spiritual growth.
