Iraq's Minister of Religious Endowment recently visited the East Mediterranean Region and Middle East University (MEU)—developments that could shape both the church's work in Iraq and its students' path to MEU.
In June, Iraq's Minister of Religious Endowment, Rami Aghajan, and his team visited the East Mediterranean Region (EMR), traveling together with Elder George Yousif, the Adventist Church's representative in Iraq. Officers from MENA and EMR met with the visiting delegation. The visit is seen as a significant step toward better serving those in Iraq.
The visit included discussions on matters relevant to the Church's ongoing ministry and logistics in Iraq. Prayer is requested as these conversations continue.
The visit also included a stop at Middle East University (MEU) in Lebanon, where discussions addressed the recognition of MEU diplomas in Iraq. At present, students from Iraq who complete their studies at MEU are unable to have their qualifications recognized at home—a barrier that has kept many from considering MEU at all. Progress on this front would not only benefit individual graduates, but could open MEU's doors to a new generation of students from Iraq.
This visit is regarded as one of several developments opening doors for serving in Iraq, and prayer is requested as these efforts move forward.
