From November 22–23, 2023, the International Scientific Conference was held in Bucharest, Romania. The theme of the conference was "Affirming Freedom and Human Rights in the Context of Global Crises - Education and Digitalization."

The main purpose of this conference was to discuss the importance of freedom of religion and conscience, education, and human rights in the context of global crises, as well as social security, democracy, and education and human rights issues—particularly, freedom of religion and conscience. These issues have become a major theme of scientific approaches.

The conference aimed to bring together leading researchers, religious leaders, and academics from diverse cultural, religious, and political backgrounds, as well as professionals from the information technology world to share experiences and exchange research results on these current topics that have a major impact on society.

Freedom of Conscience Journal

In honor of the launch of the Journal for Freedom of Conscience’s 11th edition, participants of the International Scientific Conference presented a scientific paper, in either Romanian, English, French, German, Italian, or Spanish. The presentations related to the event’s theme and comprised a minimum of 3,000 words. The research papers were integrated in the Journal for Freedom of Conscience, while the abstract and keywords were in English.

Scientific papers received by the above date have been published in a paper launched at this year's event. The scientific paper will be sent together with the Declaration of Originality for publication in the Journal for Freedom of Conscience.

The publication and launch of the journal’s 11th edition is done in collaboration with the State Secretariat for Religious Affairs, Polytechnic University of Bucharest, International Religious Liberty Association (IRLA, USA), Association Internationale pour la Défense de la Liberté Religieuse (AIDLR, Switzerland), and the Institute for Peace Studies in Eastern Christianity (USA).

The purpose of the publication is to bring together the ideas presented in the concept of respect and application of human rights in the proceedings of the International Scientific Conference and its theme. The ideas, in the form of research papers, are then published in the Journal for Freedom of Conscience. The next step is to disseminate a considerable number of copies of this work, which is of scientific and social value to communities, central and local government institutions, higher education institutions, libraries, and various spread-out cultures.

"From an AIDLR perspective, the work of Constantin si Libertate (“Conscience and Liberty”) Association is outstanding in Romania,” said Paulo Macedo, secretary-general of AIDLR. “The extent, depth, and quality of the journal, and also for how long it has been published, is an impressive contribution to the studies on the topic [of] religious liberty. The events promoted by the association, in the parliament and universities, are always a timely and relevant meeting point between authorities, academics, clerics, students, and other personalities. AIDLR recognizes and fully [supports] this excellent work.”
