A cross-border initiative by the Papua New Guinea Union Mission in the South Pacific is taking the gospel into unreached areas and has been highlighted by the global Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Border Bicycle Ministry’s I Will Go bike ride travels along the border of Papua Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, sharing the hope of Jesus with remote villages.
As the riders travel from community to community, they are warmly welcomed by local villagers eager for connection and fellowship.
On January 16, 2026, the ministry was featured in a video presented to world church leaders, highlighting the South Pacific Division’s involvement in the broader Mission Refocus emphasis. Mission Refocus is a strategic initiative by the Seventh-day Adventist Church to reprioritize, reallocate, and redirect church personnel, funds, and efforts toward reaching unreached people groups and urban areas.
Adventist pastor Obed Yamasombi, who is featured in the video, said what people are witnessing across the border is a Spirit-led movement.
“[It’s] a ripple that is becoming a wave, even a missional tsunami—as the Holy Spirit continues to move and spread this gospel-driven momentum across our region,” he shared.
“Let us continue to keep our neighbours in prayer as God guides, empowers and expands this growing missional movement.”
