Saturday, February 24, 2024, marked the beginning of a special 10-hour day of fasting and prayer for the Adventist community in the northern territory of Peru, dedicated to seeking revival in the spiritual life of each person.
Church members gathered together to share testimonies, Bible studies, and worship through praise.
During the afternoon, visits were carried out to people who have distanced themselves from the church, with the purpose of inviting them to participate in a special week entitled " The Great Reunion ", which has been taking place since Sunday, February 25, 2024, and will end this Saturday, March 2, 2024. Leaders, pastors, and church members joined together in the " Missionary Afternoons " project, touring homes, town squares, and neighborhoods to share words of hope, biblical texts and offer help through food baskets and medical campaigns.
Actions of Love, Solidarity, and Hope
One of the Missionary Afternoon visits took place at the 08 de Octubre Association, located two hours from the city of Lima, where Gerardo and his wife reside.
Fifteen days ago, they decided to start studying the Bible and are learning about the love of Christ through members of the Shekinah Congregation, which is to become a church in that area.
On Saturday, Pastor Edison Choque, Ministerial Secretary of the Adventist Church for this region, along with other members, visited Gerardo and his wife, to pray for them and promised to take care of them and attend to them, since they have been living alone for a few months. They suffered an accident that prevented them from moving around properly, in addition to facing financial difficulties. However, the church will be present to support them.
These visits testify to thousands of similar stories, where the message of hope has reached those who seek to reunite with Christ. Many of those who visited have responded by attending nightly meetings at local churches, where the importance of following Jesus is preached.
Additionally, throughout the week, the church has extended its activities to the streets, squares, institutions, hospitals, and parks, offering to pray with them. The daily reading of "God First" has further strengthened the Adventist community, fostering true spiritual revival and a personal encounter with Jesus in every heart.
