Glenn Townend elected as South Pacific Division president during the 62nd GC Session in St. Louis, Missouri.

Glenn Townend has been elected president of the South Pacific Division (SPD) of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

The election of the world division leaders was held on the fifth day, July 7, 2025, of the 62nd General Conference (GC) Session in St. Louis, Missouri.

Following his election, Townend shared a brief comment: “Being asked to lead for a third term is humbling and challenging. God and His people in the SPD can become a thriving disciple-making movement.

“The experience in PNG in 2024 can be adopted and adapted across our territory.”

Townend’s term as SPD president began in 2015, when he was elected at the GC Session in San Antonio, Texas. Prior to that he was president of the Trans-Pacific Union Mission. He has also served as president of the Western Australian Conference.

During his period as SPD president, Townend has focused on mission and disciple-making, encouraging churches to follow the Harvest Model of preparing the soil, sowing the seed, cultivating the plant, and harvesting the crop.

He is married to Pam, who works for SPD Health as the coordinator of the 10,000 Toes Campaign, which is targeting the epidemic of diabetes in the South Pacific. They have three children and nine grandchildren.

On July 8, the election of the division secretaries and treasurers was held. For the SPD, Michael Sikuri has been elected secretary, and Francois Keet has been elected treasurer. Both have held the roles since 2021.
