On February 8, 2025, the Fakel Seventh-day Adventist Church in Moscow celebrated the baptism of four individuals—Alexander, Amanda, Lisnay, and Lismer. Each of them arrived in Russia from Cuba at different times and found spiritual community within the church.

The Growth of a Cuban Bible Study Group

The Cuban presence in the Fakel congregation began two years ago with the arrival of the first Cuban family. As the number of Spanish-speaking attendees grew, a Bible study class specifically for Cubans was formed, led by Lucy, a dedicated church member. This initiative provided an opportunity for newcomers to explore the teachings of the Bible, connect with fellow believers, and strengthen their faith.

The first baptism from this group took place in December 2024, when Marbeliz publicly committed her life to Christ. Following her baptism, Pastor Vladimir Kotov extended an invitation for others to study the Scriptures and prepare for baptism. Five individuals responded to the call, leading to the baptism of four members this month.

Faith Amidst Challenges

All of the newly baptized members are young adults who have faced significant challenges, including adjusting to life in a new country. Despite these difficulties, they have embraced their faith and found support within the church community.

The Fakel congregation is committed to helping these new members grow spiritually and integrate into church life. Church leaders and members believe that with God’s guidance, these individuals will continue to strengthen their faith, participate in church activities, and share the message of Christ with fellow Cubans arriving in Russia.

This baptism marks a milestone in the church’s outreach efforts, demonstrating how faith, community, and dedicated Bible study can transform lives and foster new beginnings.
