A week-long evangelistic series held at the Kerevat National School of Excellence (KNSoE) in East New Britain, Papua New Guinea, concluded with 11 student baptisms and a renewed interest in the Adventist message among students and staff.
Organized by Adventist students and staff, the open-air program ran from June 25 to 30, 2025, and drew more than 200 attendees each evening, including individuals from various faith backgrounds.
With the theme “The Power of Choice,” the meetings were led by Gibson Yambi, East New Britain provincial area supervisor. “Choose God, connect with God, and live with God who is our Father, rather than depending on ourselves and others,” Yambi urged. “We have a future to face.”
According to school chaplain Jimmy Pesul, the school’s leadership strongly supported the initiative.
“The KNSoE administration gave its full support for Adventist students and staff to run this spiritual enrichment program, even though many staff affiliate with other denominations,” he said.
In addition to the evangelistic messages, attendees also benefited from nightly health presentations delivered by Adventist health professional Dr. Peter Nebare, under the theme “Health Ambassador for Happiness.” Topics included “The Power of Health Choice,” “Prevention Is a Choice,” “Longevity Is a Choice,” and “Health Restoration Is a Choice.”
Nebare highlighted the significance of daily decisions: “The first health choice you make can lead to addiction or long-term consequences,” he said.
The program concluded with 11 student baptisms, a direct result of the ongoing campus ministry efforts of Adventist students within the New Britain New Ireland Mission. An additional 45 students responded to an appeal, expressing interest in preparing for future baptism.
Deputy Principal Nelson Sangisi affirmed the value of the initiative.
“We provide academic knowledge, but God alone bestows values,” he said. “Partnering in spiritual programs like this is essential.”
Reflecting on the impact, Pesul added, “I see God at work. Students and staff in this institution are consciously representing His truth in an ethnically and religiously diverse environment.”
