On 7 July in St. Louis, Missouri, during the 62nd General Conference Session, Daniel Duda was elected as president of the Trans-European Division (TED).

The nominating committee presented a combined proposal for all 13 division presidents, which was voted on as a group. A majority of delegates (1,720, out of the 1,833 voting delegates) from the global church supported the recommendation.

In a prayer of dedication, former general vice-president of the GC, Ella Simmons, said, “Father God, Your presence is being felt throughout this Session. In gratitude, we turn our thoughts to these leaders whom You have chosen at this time to lead the Church in its various regions.”

Continuing, she prayed, “Father, touch each one with Your mighty right hand. Guide and direct them; let them not stray from the path on which You have placed them. You have a plan not only for their lives but also for Your people, for Your work, and for Your Church. Bless them, strengthen them. Grant them an unusual abundance of discernment and wisdom. Let them hear Your voice—and give them whatever it takes to listen. We pray and thank You in the blessed name of Jesus.”

A Seasoned Leader

Daniel Duda holds a DMin in Biblical Theology from Andrews University. His ministry has included roles as pastor, evangelist, theology lecturer, and ministerial secretary in the former Czecho-Slovakian Union. He also served in Russia, where he led the Theology Department and served as Academic Dean at Zaoksky Adventist University. In 1998, he joined Newbold College as Principal Lecturer in Biblical and Systematic Theology. Duda began working at the TED in 2005 and was first elected as its president in 2022.
