On April 26, 2024, Ted Wilson, General Conference president, traveled to Mount Hagen in Papua New Guinea (PNG), where he was welcomed to the Western Highlands Mission (WHM) before traveling on to Minj, a region in the Jiwaka Provence. There, he will preach the “Revelation of Hope” series, part of the PNG for Christ campaign.

Upon his arrival, Wilson was welcomed on the tarmac by church leaders. Just outside the gate, Pathfinders and a marching band welcomed the world church president as well. From there, he traveled to the WHM office, where he was transferred into a vehicle made from kunai grass.

Wai Rapa, the governor of the Western Highlands Province, welcomed Wilson and all the international guests to PNG. Here, Wilson also had the opportunity to address the crowd, who had even climbed onto shipping containers for a better vantage point.

Pastor Wilson told the crowd that the name Seventh-day Adventist provides identity, origin, purpose, and destiny. Pastor Wilson then travelled to Minj for the start of his program.

The PNG for Christ evangelistic series is an initiative taking place from April 26 to May 12, 2024 across 162 sites in Papua New Guinea in an effort to share the gospel with residents.
