In February 2025, 15 missionaries, sent by 11 pastoral districts of the Adventist Church in the southwest of Bahia, Brazil, arrived in Peru ready for a 10-month journey. They will be part of a project that seeks to share the message of Christ's love and meet the needs of the population.
The missionaries were selected after a preparation process at the School of Missions and joined a representative group of young missionaries. The trip to Lima, the country's capital, which involved a long journey from Vitória da Conquista, in the interior of Bahia, was made possible through the collaboration of pastors, churches, and family members.

The Executive Secretary of the Bahia Southwest Mission, headquarters of the Adventist Church for the southwest of Bahia, Geovanio Melros, highlighted the group's importance.
“We are talking about 15 young people who represented our region well by joining 180 other South American young people serving in Peru. This mission is the result of the effort of 11 pastoral districts, which came together to send these well-prepared young people authorized by the church commission to serve,” he commented.
Upon her arrival in Peru, Larissa Rocha shared her initial experience, highlighting the hospitality of the local population.
"Since I arrived, everything has been wonderful. The team I'm working with is very welcoming, and I'm able to communicate in Spanish to study. God has helped me a lot," said Larissa.
She also mentioned the opportunity to lead a Pathfinder Club and expressed her high expectations for the coming year.
"I feel confident and excited, and I believe that many good things will happen. From the trip to the arrival, everything was well guided, and I am ready to serve," she concluded.
Impact on Other Communities
“Their goal is to dedicate a year of their lives to community, welfare, and religious projects,” said Emerson Oliveira, leader of the Adventist Volunteer Service (AVS) in the Southwest of Bahia.
“They will carry out a variety of activities, from building houses and cleaning squares to distributing food. They will also work on evangelistic initiatives, provide training, and give Bible studies,” he added.
