Just hours after delegates at the 62nd General Conference Session voted him in as president of the Inter-European Division (EUD) president, Barna Magyarosi, sat down with ANN and EUD News to talk about the road ahead, the weight of leadership, and the personal convictions that drive his ministry.

Magyarosi outlined four key priorities for the Division: mission through church planting and small groups, health ministries focused on prevention and lifestyle centers, education through schools as centers of influence, and digital media as a tool for outreach and engagement.

He acknowledged the challenges of secularization and shifting demographics in Europe, but emphasized that “every social upheaval opens doors for compassionate service.” He called for Christ-centered engagement, comparing the church’s approach to Daniel’s faithful witness in Babylon.

Magyarosi views the Division’s linguistic and cultural diversity—spanning 20 countries and 18 languages—as a strength. “Unity is rooted in our shared beliefs and mission,” he said, “while diversity enriches how we reach people.”

Drawing from his background in education, he also voiced support for a Division-wide master’s program for theology students to foster collaboration across cultures.

Closing his remarks, Magyarosi issued a call to action: “God calls every member to wake up and serve. If we each ask, ‘Lord, how can I serve today?’ our Division will become an unstoppable movement of hope.”

About Barna Magyarosi

Magyarosi has served as the Inter-European Division's executive secretary since 2015. He was first elected to a leadership position in the regional Adventist church in South Transylvania (Romania) in 2001, heading the Sabbath School Department. In 2003, he moved to the Adventist Theological Seminary in Cernica, Romania, as a lecturer.

In 2005, he was appointed a lecturer of Old Testament studies and became the director of the theological seminary that same year. In 2010, Magyarosi was elected head of the Education and Family Ministries department of the Inter-European Division (EUD) at the General Conference Session in Atlanta.

In this role, he also became chairman of the EUD's Biblical Research Committee. He is married to Noémi-Laura, and they have one daughter, Blanka.
