About 70 volunteers participated in Australia’s largest health, wellbeing and natural therapies event

More than 450 people received free wellness checks at an Adventist-run health booth at the Mind Body Spirit Festival in Darling Harbour, Sydney, Australia, from October 12–15, 2023.

About 70 volunteers manned the booth, offering blood pressure, blood sugar and body mass index (BMI) checks, massages, and lifestyle consultations. The Mind Body Spirit Festival is Australia’s largest health, well-being, and natural therapies event with more than 200 exhibitors.

The Health Department of the Greater Sydney Conference (GSC) of Seventh-day Adventists ran the booth in partnership with the Personal Ministry and Evangelism Department and ELIA Wellness. Literature evangelists were also involved, selling health and spiritual resources to attendees.

Dr Christiana Leimena-Lehn, GSC Health Department director, said the booth provided opportunities to promote the various programs that Adventist churches are hosting as part of the Sydney Adventist Wellness Fest, which runs until November 30. Cooking demonstrations, walking clubs, and mental well-being programs are some of the activities being offered.

“Health service is an entering wedge for us to minister to our wider community to meet their needs,” Dr Leimena-Lehn said. “Join the movement in bringing health to the wider community, to mingle with many at a personal level, to offer hope that they will discover one day the meaning and purpose of life and the love of Christ.”
