Lima, the capital of Peru, has faced a fire since Monday, March 3, 2025, which has consumed several buildings in the city center, leaving dozens of families homeless. Faced with this emergency, more than 100 Adventist youth have responded to the call for solidarity and service, mobilizing through ADRA Peru, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency, to provide support to those affected.

For five days, teams of 20 volunteers delivered food, water, and emotional support to the victims. They also organized recreational activities for children displaced by the disaster. The first brigade was made up of young people from the One Year in Mission (OYiM) program. Volunteers from different regions of the country also joined.

Young people collaborated in Plaza Italia, where ADRA set up a support point, while another group worked in the Adventist Church of Grau, preparing lunches and food supplies that would be distributed in the care centers. The call had an immediate response, evidencing the spirit of service of this generation of volunteers.

The fire, which started in a warehouse on Jirón Cangallo, has affected several homes and collapsed buildings, leaving more than 20 families in vulnerable conditions. While firefighters continue to work to extinguish the flames at the foundations of the structures, young Adventists have become a reflection of Christ's love by bringing hope and help to those who need it most.

Other volunteers requested time off from work and organized themselves to arrive at the site and put on the green apron of solidarity.
