Young people from diverse backgrounds across the Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD) recently concluded their participation in the Global Youth Day (GYD), organized by the Youth Department of the Adventist World Church. The "Show Up in the Cities" event sought to inspire youth-led mobilization of the global church to have a positive impact on their communities.

Responding enthusiastically, the Southern Asia-Pacific Division (SSD) orchestrated various community campaigns, including health programs, visits to the sick and elderly, and collaborations with local government units to combat drugs, smoking, and alcohol. Additionally, fun runs and mobile caravans were organized in some regions to raise awareness about the Adventist Church's health and community development initiatives.

In the North Philippines, youth leaders initiated a "Give a Toy" campaign to support underprivileged children, while clean-up drives, feeding programs, and financial donations marked GYD activities in other locations.

Youth leaders in the Southeastern Asia region partnered with charity institutions to feed and spend time with orphaned and vulnerable children, fostering a sense of belonging and care.

In the South Philippines, young people took to the streets to share the gospel and distribute literature, braving the scorching sun with joy and determination.

Pastor Ron Genebago, SSD Youth director, celebrated GYD with young people in East Indonesia. Along with hundreds of churchgoers, they marched through the streets of Manado wearing their "Show Up to the Cities" shirts to spread the gospel of Jesus.

Reflecting on the impact of GYD, Pastor Ron Genebago commended the young participants for their dedication to effecting positive change within their communities. "The Global Youth Day movement represents a beacon of hope, spreading messages of love and fellowship to all corners of the globe," he said.

In conjunction with the Global Youth Day celebration, the East Indonesia Youth Leadership seized the moment to commission senior youth leaders, bolstering youth ministries in the region. These senior youth leaders have undergone comprehensive training and development to effectively mentor and disciple young individuals, nurturing them to become future leaders themselves.

For 11 years, GYD has stood as a global initiative by Youth Ministries, leaving a lasting legacy that continues to inspire a generation dedicated to effecting positive change and cultivating a promising future.
