More than 160 Adventist youth will begin a year of missionary service in various cities in northern Peru after completing an intensive six-day training program.
The program, called One Year in Mission (OYiM), trains and motivates young students and professionals to dedicate their talents to serving the community.
Through evangelism, church planting, and community work, OYiM offers participants a unique opportunity to live their faith in action while developing leadership skills that will positively impact the communities they will serve.
In this edition, 25 young Brazilians have joined the program.

Comprehensive Training for an Effective Mission
During the training days, volunteers participated in seminars and workshops given by pastors and specialists in various areas.
Topics covered included spiritual habits, homiletics, preaching, evangelism, Adventist identity, missionary strategies for the new generations, physical health, and resource management.
In addition to doctrinal knowledge, one key strategy in this year's of OYiM has been training in the Pathfinder and Adventurer clubs, which are considered essential for the spiritual growth of children and youth.
Greater commitment to the community was also promoted through integration and service activities, planting new churches, and the formation of new disciples and leaders in the congregations.

The six days of preparation included practical activities so that participants could experience missionary work firsthand. Alan Cosavalente, leader of the Adventist youth in northern Peru, explained the importance of training volunteers.
“The preparation is both theoretical and experiential. Participants experience fieldwork and learn to strengthen their relationship with God before impacting others,” he says.

Ready for Mission
These missionary tools seek to strengthen the faith of the youngest and create a solid foundation for Christian leadership in future generations. Activities such as Missionary Afternoons were promoted, and spaces were dedicated to interaction with the community through service and preaching.
Now, young people will head to different locations to apply their knowledge and continue sharing hope.
